Then, speakers Michael Leone, Chairman, AAPA & Maritime Director/Massport and Joseph Lawless, Chairman, AAPA Security Advisory Committee & Massport's Director of Maritime/Bridge Security discussed US and local port issues, including the Panama Canal expansion, environmental concerns, sustainability, security and the Mass State Transportation Reform Bill. Later, an "On the Record" discussion with Peter Friedmann, CONECT Counsel, outlined the latest news on 10 + 2, Lacey Act, new leadership in CBP, DHS, and the latest Congressional proposals. Lots of questions were answered by all the speakers who made the afternoon informative and interesting.
The educational sessions were followed by an evening Cocktail Reception and Summertime BBQ. The sun was shining and the live music on the patio set a lively mood for CONECT attendees.
