Understanding Customs Bonds and Bond Liability Tuesday, July 16, 2024 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (EST) The recent announcement of new tariffs on certain Chinese goods by the Biden administration could impact existing bonds and lead to more bond insufficiency notices. This webinar will cover Customs bond basics, bond calculations, bond insufficiencies, and bond stacking liability. Panelists will also discuss CBP's new bond guidance, the impact of AD/CVD on bond liability, and bond claims. Speakers:  Carli Gallagher Vice President, Business Development, Northeast Region Avalon Risk Management | Carli joined Avalon in 2007 as an Account Executive eager to assimilate and contribute to the logistics industry. She quickly worked her way up to Senior Account Executive and then Regional Sales Manager, before assuming her current role in August of 2022. With 16 years of invaluable experience, Carli delivers risk management expertise and solutions to her clients, while always focusing on relationships and integrity. She also dedicates her time to training and mentoring her colleagues, to aid in Avalon’s overall growth and sales efforts. As a graduate of Michigan State University, Carli has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. She is a licensed insurance broker and further expanded her proficiency by earning the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. You will often find Carli speaking at logistics industry events as a subject matter expert on coverages such as Cargo Insurance, Cyber Insurance and Professional Liability. She is an active member of several trade organizations including the JFK Airport Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association and the New York/New Jersey Foreign Freight Forwarders & Brokers Association. She also serves on the Education Committee and Insurance Subcommittee for the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA). |  James Lai Senior Account & Program Manager, Surety Bonds, New York Office Roanoke Insurance Group | As the Bond Manager in Roanoke’s New York office, James Lai’s responsibilities include underwriting, marketing and leading the customer support team for local and national accounts in the area of customs bonds. James participates in trade events within the New York/New Jersey Broker Forwarder community. He is a licensed broker in New York and is a graduate of the University of Michigan holding a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Risk Management. |
