Next Generation
CONECT Next Generation

Why the group was formed:

CNG was formed to encourage newer trade professionals to get involved. CONECT leaders fully realize that the organizations’ younger members will eventually become its new board members, and the more they learn now about CONECT and the trade and transportation industry, the stronger and more effective the future CONECT organization will be. To that end, the CONECT Young Professionals (CYP) was formed in the summer of 2012. In 2024, CONECT leaders decided to transition the group to CONECT Next Generation to include wider range of professionals developing their careers in trade and transportation.

What are the goals of CNG?

This sub-group of CONECT members has a main goal, which is to create varied opportunities for CNGs to learn from each other and build a strong and viable network of up-and-coming trade and transportation professionals within CONECT. Such opportunities currently include:

  • A convivial and casual CNG annual meeting in September
  • Industry facility tours
  • Community volunteer days
  • Outreach at college career programs
  • Special breakout sessions at annual CONECT events

Who Should Join the CNG Group?

The professions of CNG members are as diverse as those of CONECT’s general membership. Current CNG's include importers, exporters, supply chain managers, intermodal transportation operators and sales representatives, logisticians, port managers, trade lawyers, compliance professionals, and more.
