As an attorney and licensed customs broker, I assist clients in navigating and complying with US import and export laws and regulations in order to increase operational efficiency, reduce duty obligations, and avoid costly penalties. My experience includes, but is not limited to:

• Developing and implementing import and export compliance reviews, audits, testing/monitoring programs, manuals, policies, processes and procedures; conducting import and export classification exercises
• Determining eligibility for free trade and other preferential tariff agreements
• Reviewing and recommending valuation and pricing methodologies
• Assisting clients in structuring import and export transactions and reviewing associated contracts and agreements
• Making export license determinations and providing guidance on export license applications
• Assisting companies in preparing for Customs audits and for programs such as C-TPAT and ISA
• Advocating (via, for example, protests, petitions and prior disclosures) on behalf of clients with the federal agencies that regulate international trade, including, among others, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Bureau of the Census (Census).
